MOSCOW, November, 22. /TASS/. The construction of the team base camp for teams participating in the 2018 FIFA World Cup has been completed in the city of Bor (satellite city of Nizhny Novgorod), and the authorities have submitted the documents to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to register it, Governor of Nizhny Novgorod Oblast Valery Shantsev told the reporters.
“The team base camp has been constructed, and we have already sent the documents to FIFA to register it”, said Head of the region. He added that such a sports facility is “a rare one to find in other regions”. Он отметил, что такой спортивный объект “еще поискать в других регионах”. There’s a hotel there, a dining area, a lounge area, all in one place, backed up by state-of-the-art technologies,” he said.
Two team base camps, including hotels, are supposed to be erected in Nizhny Novgorod Oblast for the FIFA 2018 World Cup – in Bor (brand-new construction) and in Dzerzhinsk – the Khimik stadium with the adjacent hotel currently under renovation. Also, two pre-match training grounds are being built from scratch near the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium – stadium to host world tournament’s matches; there’s another training ground located on the Lokomotiv stadium which is currently undergoing renovation. All ground pitches will be heated and illuminated, with office blocks and stands with a minimum capacity for 500 people.
2018 World Cup matches will be held from June, 14 through July, 15 at 12 stadiums in 11 cities of Russia: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Saransk, Kaliningrad, Volgograd, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Sochi and Rostov-on-Don. Nizhny Novgorod will be host six matches: four matches of the group stage, an eighth-final match, and a quarterfinal match.
