Kazan is One of Cheapest Cities to Host World Cup 2018


The capital of Tatarstan entered the top five most budget-friendly cities in Russia that will host the World Cup football matches next year in terms of accommodation rental, reported tvil.ru in their study published on Monday.

The accommodation service created a top list based on accommodation rental affordability in host cities of the World Cup 2018. Kazan ranked fifth: the average daily rent in the city is 2,615 RUR per day. The capital of Tatarstan lost to Saransk (1,540 RUR/day), Volgograd (1,718 RUR/day), Rostov-on-Don (1,954 RUR/ day) and Yekaterinburg (2,396 RUR/day).

The citiies with the least affordable rent are Kaliningrad (2,927 RUR /day), Moscow (3,459 RUR/day) and Nizhny Novgorod (3,711 RUR/day).

Homeowners and hoteliers expect a rise in the cost of renting by 50-100% during the World Cup matches, and the cheapest accommodation will be provided by hostels and apartments for 1-2 thousand rubles per person per day, the study has found.
